This community service project aimed to implement Biopore Infiltration Holes (BIHs) as an appropriate technology for managing household organic waste in Watu-Watu Village, Kendari City. The methods included planning, community outreach, and training in BIH construction involving local residents. The results indicated that BIHs effectively reduced the volume of organic waste transported to temporary disposal sites, enhanced soil infiltration capacity, and produced natural compost that could be utilized for home gardening. Beyond technical benefits, this program also encouraged active community participation and raised environmental awareness regarding independent household waste management. The success of BIH implementation was demonstrated by reduced waterlogging, improved soil fertility, and strong involvement of residents in composting activities. Therefore, BIHs can be considered a simple, low-cost, and sustainable appropriate technology that not only addresses waste management challenges but also contributes to environmental conservation and the empowerment of local communities at the household level.
